Romney's Strategy: NV vs. SC

Reports on Romney's strategy seem strange at first. He is leaving SC to go to Nevada, where he already has a commanding lead. Yet, at the same time, Mitt is expanding his ad buy in SC.

So what is he doing? If you have decided that you can't win SC, why stay? The way I see it, Mitt wants Fred out. Romney and Fred are pulling from largely the same pool of voters, so by maintaining a solid presence in SC, Romney is doing his best to bring Fred's total down to ensure that he finishes behind both Huckabee and McCain. Meanwhile, Romney wants to dominate NV and take as many of their 34 delegates as possible.

If Romney can succeed in getting nearly all of NV's delegates and forcing Thompson out before Florida (or at least before super Tuesday) then January 19th will be a success... even if he doesn't take the "gold" or "silver" in the Palmetto state.

Romney vs. Huckabee

This video pretty much defines Romney vs. Huckabee... one sticks to conservative principals and appeals very strongly to upper-middle class suburban types, the other makes one feel really good about disregarding a basic sense of law and ownership, but may appeal to those who would love to vote for John Edwards.... if only he was a Baptist minister.

You be the judge:

P.S. Notice Tancredo laughing at the end.... I take this as a foreshadowing of his endorsement of Mitt Romney.
